To empower women, uplift the social status of women and make     them economically independent Mahila Jagriti Yojana was launched     on 8th March, 1999 (on International Women Day) by this     department.

The main objectives of the scheme are to strengthen women     economically and socially.

The main objective of this scheme is to uplift the social and     economic status of women, to give awareness about the schemes     implemented by the different departments for the welfare and     development of women and to help them to increase their family     income through income generating activities.

Under this scheme, self-help groups of women have been formed     so that they can solve their problems.

Under the scheme 6515 Self-Help Groups of women have been     formed, 1902 groups are involved in the socio-economic activities.
