A Central Adoption Resource Agency (CARA) is an Autonomous Body of the Ministry of Social Justice Empowerment Govt. of India New Delhi.

  Licensed Adoption Placement Agency (LAPA):

The State Government has recognized 5 Institutions in this regard.
If any person or agency finds an abandoned / orphan child, he/it will immediately file a First Information Report in the concerned Police Station and make an application to Child Welfare Committee within 24 hours seeking permission to keep custody of the child. Further, the process of clearance from Child Welfare Committee, in the case of abandoned children, to declare the child legally free for adoption will have to be adopted. Where there is no Child Welfare Committee functioning, the District Collector can be empowered by the State Government for the purpose. All the process will be done by Licensed Adoption Placement Agency (LAPA).

The State Government has given recognition to the under-mentioned NGOs and Children Homes under Juvenile Justice Act in the field of adoption. Any NGO having good working experience in the field of child welfare can get recognition in the field of adoption. It shall have to apply in the prescribed format. Its' inspection will be done by the concerned District Social Security officer and if the inspection report is found outstanding, it is given recognition by the State Government:-
